Final Version of Episode 5 Due!

Minutes of today's grp meeting for episode 5

main purpose: come out with a concept for episode 5 since the previous one was rejected

main idea: follow the damn script, every single word

- shot of cartoon earth spinning happily - this is the 1970's, rays coming from sun and bouncing off ozone layers, some penetrating through earth

- show ozone hole on south pole, and text "1970" on top left or right hand corner, whatever that suits the compositor's mood during time of compositing

- "gas top-up style" - 1970 changes to 1990, the typical fuel meter type. get what I mean? no? too bad. =)
meanwhile, show time lapse - earth spinning fast like nobody's business - blur it so it doesn't look so cool and 3D *ahem*

- a clock to replace the earth - but the clock's numbers changed to years.. so the clock ticks from 1970 to 1990... again, get what I mean? no? too bad then

- while the time lapse is happening, the ozone layer gets twice as big until at the end of time lapse, the Europe region on the earth flashes - as if fuel tank is full

(get the idea of the entire fuel refilling process thingie? no? too bad)

- and basically we cut there

Again, the main idea is to just follow the script - like what Alan said - as long as the message is clear, our job is done - regardless of how complex the animation is. So let's get it done and over with guys.

Uhh just to sidetrack a little bit because it's been on my mind for quite some time..

umm... can we all please try to be on time? I know we have a lot of other committments to make and all of us have a life and we're so damn busy outside and yadi yadi ya. But can we please be fair to those who come on time? It's not fair for them to be there on time and then waiting at least 2 hours before the whole group turns up. Get what I mean? Aiyah, sian la, but come on leh. Lets just corporate and respect and appreciate each other's punctuality alright?

Again, get what I mean? No? Too bad then.

Out.

Well, I thought that we have a blog and we don't even have the logo published here. So I decided to post it up myself :D

This is the logo of Crewsade, Inc. (previously, now Crewsade). Original concept and design done by Greg and edited by me :D

Well personally, I'd like the logo to stay this way cos it has a lot of memories of Crewsade and its the first design. So for now, I'd like it to stay as it is. Of course the Inc part has to be taken out - Greg do sth about it alright! lol

We have to " show them what we are made of "
give them lousy animation.
must put in more effort.
MORE EFFORT!!

Woohoo!
good job guys.
but we have to suck more.
not sucky enough. =)
We shall work towards that.

If people other than us
are viewing this.
if you see an animation on a chinese show
on channel u.
it is NOT done by temasek poly.
NOT done by moving images.
NOT done by any of us.
REMEMBER!!

When you're working on something which is going to be broadcasted on TV, then you have to turn on this feature called safe frames (click on the image above and look.. you can also press the ' button on your keyboard if using After Effects)

Everything outside the outer border will be cut off when shown on TV. Don't ask me why, that's the way things work when they appear on TV. So be safe and try to keep all the animations withing the action safe border.

If you're using flash, do a rough approximation of the title/action safe area on your Flash stage. Don't animate anything too near the edge of the screen.

Good luck.

Thankew brownie, that was really really useful. I just cant remember the numbers. Erm, please explain safe frames though. LOL.

Anyway, just to add on to what Raj had said..and if you are not sure abt the what and when.

ANGIE- [equation] Boy animation, cycle of normal breathing to suffocating. Try to animate it to about... 6-8secs so i can edit.

GREG- [equation] Tree animation, should end at 3-4secs so the boy can suffocate and die.

DION- [forest] Bird animation, a cycle of bird flying, dont have to be detailed. because its gonna be very far away. duplicate and make a bunch of them fly.

RAJ- [Establishing] Paper animation, poping out randomly, should end up filling the screen.

JAKE- [forest] Forest animation, something like what raj and i did earlier. but will look more like a rainforest with more trees falling down.

WENDY- story board **!*!*!*!DONE!*!**!*!*!*! congratulations.

TIMELINE

paper stack up, 4-5secs
trees falling [birds flying away],  5-6secs
tree with eyeballs worried, 1-2secs
equation [boy with tree math], 6-7secs
back to empty forest, trees with eyeballs alone in the forest revealing cityscape. 3secs

approximately 20secs. *1 second makes a big difference.

alright, like what raj said "everything by thursday afternoon" pass it to me, ill composite my forest, with your paper, trees, birds and boy. dont LAST MINUTE. i want to sleep. haha.

Hey all,

Kay, all of us will meet on Thursday afternoon, September 4th in school at around 2.30 pm hopefully. Please have all your animations done and rendered.

Specs:

720 x 576
25 fps

If anyone is using After Effects, take note of the safe frames because it will be broadcasted on TV (press " on your keyboard to turn it on/off)

We'll feedback each other on Thursday and try to get it changed before final submission on Monday. Good luck.
